Superintendent: schools ready for students; Grandview Playground locked for liability

The superintendent credited Mr. Cohen and facilities staff for preparing classrooms, installing multi‑plug outlets for Chromebook charging and finishing repairs to the athletic‑field bleachers. "The floors [are] shiny. The classrooms are clean. The bathrooms are ready to go," the superintendent said, adding staff were tying up loose ends and teachers were finishing classroom moves.
A board member raised a community concern about Grandview Playground being locked. The superintendent said the playground is locked outside school hours for liability reasons after observing damage and misuse; replacing damaged equipment could mean that kindergarten through second‑grade students would have to forgo access for a period while repairs occur. "We've had students there doing things they shouldn't be doing... anything that is damaged or we'd have to remove or replace will be something that our students would have to forego for a while," the superintendent said.
The president encouraged the public to attend committee and board meetings; no public commenters spoke at this meeting. The board closed the session with a motion to adjourn.
