Montoursville Area SD board approves consent items, treasurer's reports and invoices; resident raises concern about missing trophies

The Montoursville Area School District board approved a slate of routine consent items and financial reports at its Sept. 9 meeting and heard a public comment asking the district to locate missing athletic trophies.
The board approved the minutes from its Aug. 19 meeting and took up the business manager's reports. Brandy (business manager) presented treasurer's reports for the period ending Aug. 31, 2025, and the board approved them by voice vote. Brandy also presented a listing of invoices for the general and cafeteria funds for the period ending Aug. 9, 2025; the board approved payment by roll call with each named member recorded as voting "Yes."
Personnel consent items approved by the board included additions to the substitute teacher list (Brooke Grammer and Diane Stout), extensions of professional employee contracts (tenure approvals for eligible staff), additions to bus drivers and bus aide lists for 2025–26, and a tuition-enrollment waiver for an employee's child (employee ID 10198O). Motions to approve were made and seconded; the transcript records voice approvals for most items.
During the first public comment period, resident Jack Callahan described recent girls volleyball and historical gymnastics performances and raised a specific concern about the condition and location of several older trophies, including a 1948 championship trophy and a "golden helmet" award. "I'd like to know where these trophies went and what happened to them," Callahan said, asking the board to investigate and restore trophies to the display case.
Committee reports noted fundraising by the Bontersville Foundation ($1,341 raised from a new trail event), paraeducator conference participation (about 600 paras statewide), and various extracurricular team records and event plans. The chair announced the board would meet in executive session after the public meeting to discuss personnel matters; the board then adjourned.
