Millersburg board approves hires, coach volunteer and appoints two interim board members

The Millersburg Area School District board voted on a series of personnel and appointment items at the meeting, approving mentor and curriculum appointments, hiring recommendations, a volunteer assistant coach with one abstention, and two interim board appointments to fill recent vacancies.

Time-sensitive personnel approvals included acceptance of Ashley Eaglespin as a mentor teacher and approval of Ashley Eggleston as a curriculum planner. Roll-call voting recorded all affirmative responses for those motions.

The board also approved Emma Miller as a volunteer assistant basketball coach; the roll call recorded one abstention by the member identified in the minutes as Mister Miller and six affirmative votes. The board accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Reina Schreiber and recorded an affirmative vote on that motion.

Hiring motions approved included the employment of Jesse Snyder as a full-time middle school social studies teacher and appointment of Randy Ryland as Snyder’s mentor; substitute paraprofessionals listed on the agenda were also approved.

To fill two recently vacated board seats, the board nominated and approved Eli Schott and William Evans to serve until the next November election; the board described the appointment process and said the appointed members must be sworn in before they can vote on board matters.

Board officers said appointees will meet with the district registrar to take the oath and were invited to remain at the meeting and attend the executive session as observers (appointees cannot vote until after oath). The meeting adjourned into executive session afterward.
