Superintendent reports enrollment at 1,653, introduces district data warehouse

Superintendent Carmina told the board the district’s total enrollment stood at 1,653 students and reviewed elementary projections for 2025–26, noting the district was running slightly ahead of state projections.
"The district is down to 1,653 total students," Carmina said, and he explained the district is monitoring grade-level balances and using enrollment data to consider efficiencies in class size and sectioning.
Carmina described a planned rollout of LinkIt, a data warehouse the district will use to consolidate PSSA, Keystone, SAT/PSAT, ASVAB and behavioral data into a single platform so teachers and administrators can "pull up a kid and see every data point possible." He said the system will allow staff to tailor instruction and interventions and that teachers responded positively in recent rollout conversations.
Carmina also reported recent in-service days and safety training with UPMC staff on stop-the-bleed, Narcan and AED procedures; he said auditors were on-site this week and that staff are working through new GASB 101 financial reporting requirements.
Board members asked clarifying questions about nonresident students and tuition-free enrollments; Carmina agreed to provide further detail after the meeting to separate counts for nonresident, homeless and employee children, and to estimate related tuition revenue effects.
