The Morrisville Borough SD board received updates Monday on building systems, playground repairs and personnel reimbursements, and it clarified language on several human-resources motions to appear on next week's business agenda.
Facilities chair Mr. May told the board a backflow preventer has been installed and that three companies provided competitive quotes for the work; related documentation will be on next week's agenda. He also flagged a donated playground feature — he said an Eagle Scout built the structure — where poor ground drainage has left the area dusty and muddy. "We're looking at options anywhere between $1,200 and $1,600 to put underneath it to allow proper drainage," Mr. May said, listing possibilities such as turf or perforated tiles to improve runoff.
Mr. May said two classroom intercom systems have been repaired and one classroom awaits a replacement card; teachers in affected rooms have been given walkie-talkies as a temporary measure.
On a separate item, a board member raised a safety concern after observing school zone lights off during a 7:30 a.m. student drop-off. The chair said she would check the signage and follow up with the borough/council.
The board also reviewed motions under human resources to ratify and approve tuition reimbursement for the 2024–25 academic year (spring and summer semesters). Board members asked whether reimbursements are approved before or after course completion; administrators said the district approves courses in advance but payment depends on meeting contractual qualifications and that some prior-period human-resources errors required corrections.
Consent items listed for next week's meeting include investment reports, the treasurer's report, payment of bills for September 2025, and an agreement listed as the Homestead/Farmstead district program with Bucks County Intermediate Unit 22. Chair closed committee reports with no immediate votes on these items.
Next steps: Facilities options and cost estimates will be included in committee materials and the tuition-reimbursement wording will be clarified before the board votes next week.
