An administrator (addressed in the meeting as Mrs. Wise, S11) credited district policy 237 on cell phones with a measurable decline in recorded violations compared with the previous year: first violations fell from 107 last year to 49 this year; second violations dropped from 30 to 6; students reaching three or more violations fell from four last year to two this year. The administrator said the policy gave teachers stronger tools to manage phones and reduced online-posting incidents during the school day.
Administrators also outlined new and pilot course offerings for the coming year, including botanical science, ag and culinary, photojournalism and an agribusiness/financial-literacy pilot. The board applauded recent student awards and said it will continue tracking academic and disciplinary outcomes linked to the policy.
What happens next: administrators will monitor midyear benchmark testing and report additional data as available; the district will continue planning for course additions during budget season.
