The Montoursville Area School District board voted Jan. 13 to approve three contracts covering quality-assurance testing, building-system controls and electronic access-control upgrades for the district’s renovation project.
The board approved a $267,098 quality-assurance proposal to Barry Iset and Associates Inc. for testing and commissioning during construction. The motion was presented under agenda item 8.1 and approved by voice vote after brief discussion about oversight and scheduling for the work session.
The board also approved a $731,114 contract to NRG Controls North Inc. (including alternate 01) for building-system controls and a $116,581 contract to the same firm for building access-control hardware and installation. Chair (S2) moved the motions and each passed on voice votes with no named roll-call opposition.
Administrators said the quality-assurance scope includes air-quality balancing and testing while parts of the building remain occupied during construction; board members pressed for a follow-up work session to discuss who will oversee contractor coordination. The building-system-controls work was presented as part of the main renovation package; no members requested additional bids during the discussion.
What happens next: the administration will proceed with contracting and coordinate testing, commissioning and phased installations as part of the district’s ongoing building project. The board left oversight details to a future work session and will receive updates as work progresses.
