McGuffey School Board accepts retirement and approves multiple hires; athletic director wins 6–2–1 vote

The board approved Catherine Till as a health assistant for Joe Walker and Clayville Elementary pending required clearances and Act 168 verifications. It also approved Makayla Bracey as a substitute nurse for 2025–26 and placed Emily Engle, Jessica Hickman, Deanna Holes, Grace Higgins, and Ashley Dureg on the district’s 2025–26 substitute teacher list, all contingent on required clearances.
The board approved Lauren Dahl as a long-term substitute for 2025–26 under the terms of the current agreement between the McGuffey Board of Directors and the McGuffey Education Association; a board member asked a clarifying question distinguishing a long-term substitute from a building substitute during that discussion.
In the most prominent personnel vote, the board moved to hire Michael Wall as athletic director and to accept and execute an athletic director agreement. During roll call the board recorded named votes and announced a tally of 6 yes, 2 no, and 1 abstention (announced in the meeting as “6 2 1”). A presenter summarized Wall’s background in western Pennsylvania and his experience as an athletic director and coordinator; Wall accepted the appointment, addressing the board and saying he is “about kids first” and will “work hard” to serve the community and coaches.
