During discussion, administration and members framed the action as a structural change designed to preserve classroom positions where possible. One board member noted, “I understand that this is an elimination of the position, not the person in the position,” and administrators emphasized opportunities to shift the incumbent to other teaching roles where feasible.
Superintendent Dr. Myers described the decision as difficult and paid tribute to the contributions of the current post holder, saying the loss of the role would be “an incredible loss for our team,” and thanked the staff member (referred to in discussion as Ms. Devlin) for service and program development. Members said other administrators could cover duties previously assigned to the position.
The board voted to carry the resolution; the motion became effective 06/30/2025 per the resolution text. The district said the elimination is part of the budget plan to achieve necessary savings and that additional implementation details will follow.
