At the Sept. 15 meeting, staff presented recommended revisions to multiple policies aimed at updating language and aligning district policy with Pennsylvania law and PSBA guidance.
Policy 8 27 replaces the term "board member" with "school director" where appropriate, adds a federal‑requirements definition of conflict of interest, and creates a written‑notice protection for employees reporting violations. Staff said the change tracks PSBA recommendations and federal compliance needs.
Policy 1 0 3 and 1 0 3.1 — addressing discrimination, harassment and nondiscrimination procedures involving students and students with disabilities — were revised to incorporate updated definitions (including religious creed, the definition of pregnancy and the use of assisted reproductive technology as reflected in recent PA Human Relations Act language), Title IX coordinator responsibilities and links to PA code citations. Staff said attachments and complaint forms were also revised. Committee members asked about the sources of definitions (PA code and public law) and requested that citations and links be verified when policies are finalized in BoardDocs/PSBA. The committee moved each policy to the full board for adoption.
