Construction on Kiski Area project proceeding; elevator pit excavated and roofing work scheduled

The board received a construction progress update showing the district’s building project is proceeding on schedule.

A presenter summarized current work: no change orders were reported for the month and the contractor’s November schedule update indicates the project is on track or slightly ahead in places. Recent activities included delivery of roof insulation and ongoing structural steel and foundation work where openings in the old library are being prepared; the elevator pit excavation is complete and the presenter expects the pit to be poured this week or next with elevator shaft work to follow. HVAC piping, electrical rough-in and plumbing rough-in are underway on multiple levels, with masonry for the locker room planned soon and corridor drywall nearing topping off.

The presenter also noted temporary heat and weather protection are in place and that photographs in the report show framing, drywall, and electrical work. In response to a trustee’s question about previous parking-lot runoff that had iced, the presenter said the damaged pipe that caused the leaching has been repaired so the icing issue should not recur. When asked about work over the holiday break, the presenter said contractors will generally take holidays but crews will continue work where possible.

The board did not approve any change orders during this meeting; the presenter said the storm-line repair approved at an earlier meeting is complete. An architect or firm representative was present and available for questions, the presenter said. Trustees indicated further discussion of requested new change-order items and contractor requests will occur at an upcoming buildings and grounds meeting in January.

The construction update provides the most recent factual status of ongoing site work and administrative oversight but did not include new cost change orders this month.
