Kiski Area SD board elects Dr. Halter president and Jana (Jenna) Rao vice president

The Kiski Area School District board held its annual reorganization meeting and appointed Dr. Halter as board president and Jenna Rao as vice president.

Board members opened nominations for president; multiple trustees were nominated and the board agreed to a roll-call vote. The chair called the result and declared, “That motion carries,” congratulating Dr. Halter on the appointment. Jenna Rao was later confirmed as vice president by roll call with the board offering congratulations.

The board also approved the district’s 2025 meeting calendar: regular meetings will be held at 7 p.m. in the Boardroom of the Kiski Administration Building and there will be no meetings in July. The dates will be posted on the district website. Trustees reviewed committee assignments for legislation and policy, curriculum, finance, personnel, public and community relations, buildings and grounds, and school safety & transportation and said members may request changes at the next meeting.

Board members emphasized continuity in the reorganization, noting that because no trustees were newly elected this year the board did not need a temporary chair. One trustee explained the absence of certain renewals where multi-year terms are still being fulfilled (for example, CTC positions). The board also agreed to defer a fuller committee reshuffle until a later meeting so members can select preferences.

The meeting record shows the formal motions to hold roll-call votes for both leadership positions and the board’s confirmations. No public comments were offered on agenda items during the reorganization portion of the meeting.

Next steps: the board will convene on the schedule adopted for 2025 and may revisit committee assignments at the next session.
