"Parkway was awarded a supplemental equipment grant from PA Department of Education in the amount of $356,000," the Parkway representative said, adding the funds will be used to replace or add capital equipment across different programs and shops that provide student services such as vehicle inspection and animal care instruction.
Board members asked how community members or schools request Parkway services; the representative advised using the Parkway website or emailing Dr. Copeland directly to request assistance. The representative and board discussed scheduling an off-site board meeting at Parkway in October if the board approves and the meeting is advertised accordingly.
Separately during the education report the board considered and approved an Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) transition memorandum of understanding with Head Start, described as an annual action required by Title I and the Every Student Succeeds Act.
Board members moved and approved both items by voice vote. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript.
What happens next: Parkway will coordinate with the district on use of grant-funded equipment and staff will finalize the AIU–Head Start MOU implementation steps.
