Finance director Joe Haley told the board the purchase was already budgeted and obtained through cooperative purchasing, with pricing secured in advance to avoid later increases. "This is the price we've got since we're all in those, you know, on some stuff...This is already the quote and sign off," Haley said.
Administrators said the devices are being purchased now so they will be ready for distribution in the fall. Board members asked about cycles for other grades and device features; staff said styluses are not expected with this order and the district will continue to evaluate replacement cycles based on device condition.
The board approved the purchase by voice vote. No roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript.
