District staff told the Keystone Oaks board they will present the final budget and an accounts-payable list "just north" of $1,000,000 for approval next week, and they reviewed several operational items that will appear on the agenda.
A staff member summarized changes in insurance costs, saying some districts have seen premium increases ranging from 20% to 50%. "Most districts actually saw anywhere from a 20% to a 50% increase," the staff member said. The district added a cyber insurance policy this year that staff said was obtained at a group-discounted price of about $7,000. The staff member explained the new policy covers cyber incidents and certain types of fraudulent banking losses in ways the district's CrowdStrike protection does not; he noted CrowdStrike is focused on endpoint/detection services while the insurance responds to financial losses and other liabilities.
On procurement, staff updated the board that Schubert Equipment Sales supplied a revised invoice for a previously approved conveyor gas oven after the original quote omitted delivery and installation. The revised cost added roughly $3,000 (the speaker said "about $3,000" and later referenced a figure "close to $4,000 per bid"). Staff said the revised quote remained below the formal bid threshold and Schubert remained the lowest-priced vendor among quotes received.
Staff also recommended approval of an annual agreement with Kelly Services to provide substitute teachers, clerical and paraprofessional substitutes. The agreement would add a new pay category to encourage substitutes who work 21 or more days per month to be certified in the content area; the presenter said the teacher-substitute rate would remain unchanged while clerical and paraprofessional rates would increase modestly.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed by voice vote. The transcript does not specify the meeting date; the board indicated the finance and procurement items will be on the next meeting agenda for formal action.
