Administrators said the submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Education is delivered in component pieces and that the district will continue building a custom, fully articulated plan over the next four years. "This is the next iteration for us — new and something that's always developing," an Administrator said when outlining career-awareness activities and the department’s continuing work with counselors.
The counseling plan includes a senior seminar course tied to new graduation requirements that the district described as composed of four components: measurable goal‑setting aligned to postsecondary plans, a collaborative project with community and industry partners, targeted research on intended majors or career paths, and a financial‑literacy module. "One clear example that will change… is the senior seminar course," the Administrator said, noting staff and local business partners will collaborate on initial teacher selection and curriculum development.
Committee members asked clarifying questions about standards-alignment and the timeline; administrators committed to sharing more detailed course-selection data as it becomes available. After discussion, the committee moved the plan to the full board for final approval by voice vote. Chair called for the ayes and the motion will appear on the full board agenda for the next meeting.
The administration said no policy amendment was adopted at the committee level; the item will return to the full board for action and any required two‑reading procedure. Staff said they will provide a fuller, consolidated copy of the counseling plan and standard mappings to board members before that meeting.
