Board approves Job Corps partnership, Chapter 339 counseling plan and several facility/contract items

Job Corps partnership: The administration recommended an MOU with Keystone Job Corps to enable eligible students (typically ages 16–18) to enroll in residential trades training while completing their Kutztown diploma requirements through an online curriculum provided by Job Corps. The superintendent (Speaker 9) said the MOU lets the district partner without coding such students as dropouts and that placement is appropriate only for a small number of students who fit the residential/trades model. The board approved the agreement by roll call.
Chapter 339 counseling plan: The curriculum committee recommended and the board approved the Chapter 339 school counseling plan for 2026–2030 as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The superintendent said the plan outlines K–12 career exploration and is a living document that the district will update as needed.
Facilities and contracts: The board approved a contract with Chambers Flooring LLC to sand and repair the high-school gym floor and approved Visual Sound Inc. for phone-support services under an existing service agreement. The administration also accepted donations: $300 from East Penn Association of School Retirees for teacher grants and $8,184 from Kutztown American Legion Baseball for a batting gauge for the district baseball program.
Public safety and follow-up: During public comment a resident raised a bullying incident involving a high-school student and social media exposure; the superintendent offered to meet privately the next day to review details and next steps. The board also announced upcoming meetings and adjourned.
