Construction near completion on Kiski Area SD new building, board told

Jason Day, the district’s construction representative, told the Kiski Area School District board that work on the new building is generally on schedule and moving into interior finishes. “They’re kind of right where we thought they’d be, related to the schedule,” Day said, adding that some areas are slightly ahead while others lag but no items were critical.
Day outlined specific progress: Area A (the two‑story classroom wing) is drywalled, taped and essentially ready for paint; second‑floor ductwork and drywall finishing are largely complete; door frames and the main entry stairs and mezzanine walkway are in place; crews set a major steel beam between the cafeteria and gym last week; the elevator shaft is built; and sprinkler, plumbing and boiler piping are substantially roughed in. He said roof work has been impeded at times by weather but is progressing.
The contractor provided photos in the meeting packet showing the beam installation and drywall in classrooms. Day said the next visible work will be the front canopy and final steel erection in that area, and noted an interior access door control scope is currently out for pricing and expected to return to the board in about a month for review.
Superintendent (speaker S6) and board members asked clarifying questions about scheduling and a future walk‑through; Day said he and the superintendent would arrange that. No change orders were on the agenda.
The board did not take action at the meeting; the update served as an informational progress report and a notification that pricing for the door‑access scope would be presented to the board for consideration in the coming month.
