Kutztown Area School District board approves personnel moves, vendor contracts and routine budgets

The board accepted with regret the retirement of Jeffrey Albert, librarian at Kutztown Area Middle School, effective July 26, 2025. The board then approved additional personnel items listed on the agenda (items 2–4) after a roll-call vote.
The administration recommended and the board approved an addendum with ESS Northeast LLC to provide substitute nursing and homebound instructional coverage and approved Courtney Belzellner as a van driver for Eshelman Bus Company for the 2024–25 school year.
The board also approved an agreement with Vancoe Payment Solutions to provide online payment processing at a fee of 4.3% per transaction, at no cost to the district; administration said the vendor integrates with PowerSchool, the district’s student-information system.
Budget items approved included authorization of the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) mandated services budget for 2025–26 at a district cost of $28,489.34 (a 1.18% increase) and Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit computer-service rates for 2025–26 at an estimated $18,455 (a 2% increase). The board also approved a student device buyback program allowing seniors to purchase their assigned outgoing device for $300 per device and accepted several donations listed on the agenda.
During the Vancoe discussion the superintendent noted the district will continue to offer cash and check payments for families who prefer not to pay online and that the convenience fee is passed on to the payer. All listed personnel, contract and budget items were approved by roll call during the meeting; motions were recorded as "motion carries" in the transcript.
