Jenkintown board approves minutes, finance and personnel items and authorizes Temple affiliation agreement subject to solicitor review

The Jenkintown School District board approved routine business items during its Sept. 16 meeting, including minutes from the Aug. 19 work session and business meeting and finance items 4.1–4.13.
The board also approved items grouped under agenda item 7 (7.1–7.6), after brief discussion of 7.5 (a one-year hybrid placement memorandum for Megan Owen) and 7.6 (an affiliation agreement for an intern coming through Temple University). A board member explained that the Temple paperwork had been faxed with missing pages and that the authorization asked the board to allow administration to execute the affiliation agreement "subject to the solicitor" once the solicitor had reviewed the final pages.
"7.5 is that memorandum of understanding with the school district and the JEA, regarding the one-year hybrid placement for Megan Owen," a board member explained. Another board member confirmed that the Temple affiliate already has clearances and that the authorization is similar to prior agreements.
Personnel items and unified BOGI items (8.1 and 8.2) were moved and approved; board members characterized codifying BOGI as a positive step. Several items were taken as votes by voice and recorded in the meeting as "motion passes" without a roll-call tally in the transcript.
The board then reviewed policy revisions as a first reading (no action taken) and received standard safety, liaison and community reports before adjourning to an executive session on personnel matters.
