Student representative Diana opened the public-report portion of the meeting, congratulating the cast and crew of the district's production of The Little Mermaid and thanking staff who supported the show. She reported that Career Day on Nov. 26 featured 27 presenters and that students typically saw about six speakers each. Diana said the district's giving-room fundraiser collected more than 200 items and about $300, and she outlined upcoming student events including a holiday assembly on Dec. 19 and the student council holiday breakfast on Dec. 20.
The superintendent then reviewed November progress on the district's goals. Highlights included continued curriculum-writing work with special-area teachers, an elementary professional-development day for the new Bookworms reading program, the third marking-period grade analyses and disaggregation of LinkIt and PBIS data. Administrators also described work on new elective course proposals (music theory) and on a draft Chapter 339 guidance plan that must be submitted by March 31 and approved by the board in February.
Administrators thanked staff for early-November schedule changes that allowed 30-minute early dismissal for staff and additional time for voting and noted ongoing collaborations with community partners such as the Salvation Army and local schools for holiday support programs.
