Franklin Area SD hears Greece field-trip pitch and approves multiple field trips and service contracts

Harrison Keenan, a sixth-grade social studies teacher who asked for board permission, said he surveyed students and found roughly 65 expressions of interest; he said he would rely on fundraising and parent payments and would not ask the board for district funding.
The board approved the Catapult Learning Title I agreement (allocation shown in materials as $3,912) to provide Title I instructional services for nonpublic students in 2025–26, and accepted a counseling-services agreement with Glade Run Lutheran Services for school-based counseling at no cost to the district. The agenda also listed a BERC1 agreement to handle homestead/farmstead application mailings at a per-mailing cost noted in the materials; speakers traded a brief clarification about the per-mailing cost during discussion (material listed as 33.3333 per mailing; another member quoted $36.36).
The Greece trip and the Central Elementary overnight Gettysburg/Hershey trip were placed on consent and approved; board members asked the teacher and administration to return with more specific trip costs, exact chaperone assignments and liability paperwork closer to departure dates.
