The Staff member described a recent weekend where the district provided eight security guards on two days and estimated the security cost at about $2,400. To better align rental charges with actual staffing costs, staff proposed removing the flat $75 per‑day security fee and instead charging $25 per person per hour. “It’ll now be $25 per person per hour,” the Staff member said, adding that the flat daily rate was removed in favor of a per‑person calculation.
Members expressed concern about deterring community use of facilities and emphasized that the district should balance access for students and residents with rising custodial and security expenses. The Chair acknowledged the “big bill” for recent security and custodial work and said the district may need to revise rental and usage policies when the new facility comes online.
Separately, presenters raised overlapping stadium and field requests for April–June (including soccer and track and field), and asked for coordination so games and practices do not conflict. The board also reviewed a professional‑development request: staff reported Mrs. Pyle sought to attend the Open SciEd National Conference in Philadelphia for three days at a district cost of $1,130 (registration, lodging and transportation), plus coverage for a substitute teacher.
The board did not adopt final fee changes at the meeting; staff will return with updated policy language and clarified schedules and cost breakdowns.
