Sixth-grader Logan Sober briefs board on Logan Elementary entrance change, PBIS hayride criteria and events

Student representative Logan Sober told the board that starting this month kindergarten–third grade will enter through Door 10 to streamline cafeteria traffic; he also outlined PBIS hayride eligibility, upcoming assemblies, Spirit Week and a new spring math program.
At the start of the East Allegheny School District meeting, sixth-grade student representative Logan Sober spoke to the board about Logan Elementary operations, PBIS rewards and school events.
"Starting this month, kindergarten through third grade students will enter the building through Door 10 instead of Door 2," Logan said, explaining the change is intended to streamline breakfast traffic in the cafeteria. He added that students practiced the new procedures in September to ensure a smooth transition and that grades 4–6 will continue to use the main entrance.
Logan reviewed PBIS eligibility for an end-of-term hayride: students must meet behavior and attendance standards between Sept.18 and Oct.10, with no in- or out-of-school suspensions, no more than one lunch or recess detention and no more than two excused absences; medical excuses and principal-approved vacations were noted as exceptions. He said there is no cost for students who qualify.
He also announced several recognitions and events, including a recent fire-prevention assembly, Spirit Week themes, a WTAE teacher-of-the-month honor for Jeff Merlot, and a new "spring math" program intended to build math confidence through classwide interventions. The student closed by thanking families and encouraging support for positive behavior.
Administrators thanked Logan for the report and noted they would consider his suggestion about a short recess after lunch.
