Students from the district's FFA chapter presented highlights from the Pennsylvania Farm Show and shared upcoming outreach plans at the Feb. 11 Conneaut SD board meeting.
"My name is Cassidy McCloskey, and I'm a junior in the FFA program," Cassidy told the board, describing farm-show successes: Wesley Evans placed third in the bid-calling contest, the square-dance team (20 members) won blue ribbons, and the chapter toured New Holland and Penn State facilities.
Melody Sumner, a ninth-grader, said receiving her FFA jacket "means that I have demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in the FFA community." She credited remarks by Missus Naylor during the jacket ceremony as part of the experience.
Mitch Elasco, a senior and chapter vice president, summarized individual recognitions including his Western Star Farmer award and Keystone degrees earned by chapter members; he noted family recognition for Daniel and Jody Glasgow and promoted a community square-dancing night and several events planned during FFA month.
Board members thanked the advisers and students for their participation. The presentations were placed on the record during item 15b and were followed by routine board business.
