Superintendent Dr. Kreider announced personnel items and asked for board approval. He said, "Lorraine Kelly is a fifth grade teacher at Crafton Elementary School. Significant number of years with the Carlington School District. She's definitely had a solid impact on our children. We wish her the best in her retirement." The board recorded appreciation and carried the personnel motion by voice vote.
Dr. Kreider also introduced Dr. Trisha Serdi as the acting director of special education and people services, saying she "has a a solid background and understanding of special education" and "currently serves as the district psychologist." He said the district is confident in her ability to lead as the district readies changes to the life-skills autistic support program at Crafton Elementary School. The superintendent added the district expects to seek support from the AIU (intermediate unit) and other consultants during the transition and that Dr. Serdi will not juggle both roles once the school year starts.
The board voted to approve the personnel recommendations; the motion carried on a voice vote.
