Superintendent touts back-to-school events, new hires and launches monthly community forums

The Carlynton School District superintendent delivered a back-to-school report at the Aug. 20 board meeting, highlighting opening-day performances, new hires and a series of upcoming community forums.
"As we enter the 24-25 school year, we embrace the theme of 'together we can,'" the superintendent said, stressing district priorities of academic growth, arts and athletics, and fiscal responsibility. He listed newly hired staff on the agenda: Carrie McGregor (Life Skills Autistic Support Teacher, Grafton Elementary), Dominic Polite (counselor, Grafton Elementary) and long-term substitute kindergarten teacher Kaylee Coss at Grafton. He also recognized employees marking 25 years of service.
The superintendent announced superintendent forums for community engagement: Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. in the district central campus (CCC), Sept. 24 at Grafton at 6 p.m., and Oct. 14 at Carnegie at 6 p.m.; elementary forums will be held in school libraries. He encouraged parents and community members to attend and noted forums are intended for open dialogue and feedback rather than a fixed agenda.
The report also described opening-week events including marching band and choral performances and thanked staff across facilities, maintenance, secretarial and administrative teams for preparation. The superintendent said the district will continue to monitor operations such as transportation and drop-off procedures as the school year begins.
