Board hears recommendation to raise tax-collector pay to $3 per bill; vote planned in January

Justin estimated the district spent about $27,432 on collector compensation last year. He explained that because collections are concentrated before the December cutoff, any increase approved in January 2026 would largely take effect for the 2026–27 school year; he calculated that a $1 increase (to $3 per bill) would add roughly $13,716 to the annual budget when fully realized.
Justin recommended a $3-per-bill rate as reasonable and said he would prepare a resolution for the January meeting so the board could take formal action. Trustees asked clarifying questions about how collectors are paid (monthly checks based on collections), whether other districts pay per installment or per bill and how the CPI option works. Several trustees signaled support for bringing the proposal to a vote in January.
