Superintendent frames year as "new beginnings, stronger foundations," board meets new staff

At the meeting the district superintendent described the start of the school year as a successful kickoff, said the year’s theme is "new beginnings, stronger foundations," and summarized outreach activities including visiting kindergarten classrooms and meeting high-school classes to set expectations about respect and engagement.

"The theme this year is, new beginnings, stronger foundations," the superintendent said, explaining that the phrase signals enhancing existing programs while respecting the district’s history.

Following the superintendent’s remarks the board held a presentations segment to introduce midyear hires. High-school staff introductions included Tim Walk (instrumental and fourth-grade band), who said he moved from Potter County and was drawn by community engagement, and John George (physics and science technology). Middle-school presenters included Meg Wach (seventh-grade special education) and Emma Picano (health and physical education). Elementary-school new hires included Sonia Austin (learning support), Casey Beachy (learning support), Amanda Wolf (autistic support teacher), Sarah Renee (fourth-grade ELA/social studies), Raelynn Friedrichs (third grade), and Amber Shaffer (third grade math and science). Each speaker briefly described what drew them to the district and early positive experiences.

The board welcomed the new staff and the superintendent said the district would follow up with a small reception and opportunities for trustees to meet the teachers after the meeting. The introductions were presented for information; there were no formal board actions associated with the hires during this meeting.
