The Woodburn School District board voted to award a contract to AmTab Manufacturing for new cafeteria furniture and wall decor at Woodburn High School, approving Resolution 25‑008 by voice vote.
Board member motioned to award AMTAB Manufacturing the contract for new cafeteria furniture and decor at a cost of $355,774.67; the motion passed with a 4‑0 recorded vote. Director Bishop (business/finance) said the purchase will be paid from the Nutrition Services (Child Nutrition) special revenue fund (Fund 205) and explained that federal and state rules require excess operating balances in the Child Nutrition program to be expended within a limited period.
District staff described the planned furniture as a seating upgrade intended to increase comfort and community building in the cafeteria; estimated equipment lifespan was stated as typically 10 to 20 years. Board members asked about seating capacity, lifespan and vendor sourcing; staff identified the vendor as AmTab and noted some procurement criteria included American‑made and minority/woman‑owned designations.
On funding, Director Bishop said last year the Nutrition Services fund distributed about $319,000 to HRAs and (a transcript figure) $431.06 75 to HSAs in the described distribution process; he said the fund has an excess operating balance and the district must show a plan to spend it down. After the projected purchase the director said the fund was still expected to show a positive ending balance for the year.
The board approved the contractor award and the purchase will proceed as part of the Nutrition Services’ planned spend‑down of excess operating balances required by state and federal program rules.
