The Justice and Law Enforcement Committee recommended Ordinance 6 0 3 1 on Oct. 27, 2025, to appropriate a $566,113 grant awarded to the Family Court Division by the Missouri Office of the State Courts Administrator to fund treatment court activities, testing and case management.
The committee’s chair, Husky, read the ordinance and described the purpose of the appropriation, saying the grant must be placed in the proper 2025 grant fund spending account. Whitney Hiller of the county counselor’s office told the panel the reported description in the packet was corrected: “the original version said juvenile justice program assistance … we changed that to the accurate description, which is treatment court funding,” Hiller said.
Committee members moved and seconded to recommend the amended ordinance for perfection. The chair called for a voice vote; multiple voices answered in the affirmative and the chair stated the committee would recommend Ordinance 6 0 3 1 for perfection. When asked for a third confirming voice, Legislator Megan Smith affirmed her vote.
The recommendation for perfection forwards the ordinance for further consideration by the full legislative body; no final appropriation was enacted during the committee meeting.
