Jackson County finance committee approves resolution updating authorized bank signers

The Jackson County Finance and Audit Committee approved Resolution 22122 at an afternoon session to update who is authorized to sign on county banking and property tax accounts.

Sean Smith, chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, opened the meeting, said there were no ordinances on the agenda and introduced Resolution 22122, which he described as authorizing required banking and investment documents and "designating the county executive, the interim director of finance and purchasing, and the clerk of the legislature to be authorized signers on behalf of the county."

John Gordon of the Jackson County finance department told the committee the action would remove signers appointed under the previous administration and add the new administration’s signers for county property tax accounts. "We are trying to remove signers from the previous administration and add in the new signers for the current administration on our property tax accounts, and they require a resolution to be passed every once in a while, and this would serve that purpose," Gordon said.

Chair Smith moved the resolution; members moved and seconded the motion. The committee took a voice vote, recorded three ayes, and the motion carried. No roll-call vote or recorded dissents were made on the record.

With the resolution adopted, Smith announced the end of the committee’s agenda and adjourned the meeting.
