Sheridan SD 48J board presses for CTE construction funding, outlines bond outreach and flags grant cuts

S1 said the district has sent letters and industry endorsements from partners including Lyman Workforce Partnership and Chemeketa.
The board also discussed bond outreach. S1 described efforts to drive voters to sheridanbond.org, including a posted calculator to estimate assessed-value impacts, two mailed informational pieces to every address in the district boundary, large school banners and organized school tours tied to evening events. "We'll be promoting that quite a bit more," S1 said of spring outreach plans.
On grants, S1 warned that federal Title 1A funding — used for K–8 intervention staff and supplemental curriculum — could be reduced by roughly 25% next year. "I'm going to say it's about 350,000" in current Title 1A receipts, S1 said; the speaker emphasized that Title 1A "cannot be used to supplant" general fund positions. The Student Investment Account was projected to bring about $800,000 for 2025–26, a small decline of $2,636 from the current year, S1 added.
Board members asked for clearer, shareable data on testing and grants. S3, who presented monthly academic metrics, agreed to email a report to the board the next business day so members could review winter testing outcomes in more detail.
The superintendent-area update closed with reminders about upcoming fundraisers and community events that will be used to promote bond tours and engagement.
