Student educators show peer‑tutoring plans to the Rainier SD 13 board

Amanda Stanton introduced eight student educators (mostly seventh and eighth graders) and the student pairs presented topics including attention challenges, COVID‑era learning losses, and concrete tutoring activities such as matching games, bingo, flashcards and board‑game style worksheets. A student noted that peer tutoring "helps learners... perform better on tests, more likely to graduate, [and improves] self esteem." Trustees and the superintendent praised the students’ confidence and the program’s potential. Ms. Richardson said the presentations "gave me chills" and Chair thanked staff (Ms. Stanton and classroom teachers) for supporting the program.
The presentation closed with a short Q&A in which students described their post‑secondary plans (trade school, college, veterinary career, nursing, special education and child forensic interviewing). No board action was taken; board members recommended continued program support and publicity.
