Pleasant Hill students showcase CTE and FFA projects; program reports $120,000 in sales

At the April 21, 2025 Pleasant Hill School Board meeting, CTE and FFA students and staff presented a summary of their agricultural business management and leadership work, including student projects, industry certifications and community events.

The presenter (Speaker 3, identified on the record as an elementary teacher) described program objectives — work‑based learning, grant writing, technical writing and speaking — and noted courses that feed career pathways including construction, metal shop, floriculture and medical/health CTE options. The presenter said about 215 students participated across grades 7–12 and that FFA project sales generated over $120,000 in revenue for the program.

Students gave short testimonies about how CTE shaped their post‑graduation plans, citing hands‑on certifications and apprenticeships. One student, Calvin Lester, said the program provided “valuable hands on experience and technical skills that are directly relevant to my career.”

A local employer (Speaker 8) praised the program and encouraged students: “I want to hire people who are doing what you're doing because it matters in the workplace,” the employer said, adding the company hires about 100 people a year and looks favorably on resumes showing applied CTE experience.

The presenters invited board and community support for upcoming events including a plant sale on May 3 and participation in local fairs where students present projects and compete in CDE events.

Next steps: The district said it will make artifacts and a short video available to the board and district communications for promotion.
