Pleasant Hill SD 1 board appoints budget committee member, adopts multiple policies

The Pleasant Hill SD 1 board unanimously approved the consent agenda, appointed Rich to the budget committee and adopted several policies during its Nov. 15 meeting.

Staff explained that state budget law requires a budget committee with five board members and five appointed community members; the board voted to appoint Rich to a three-year term beginning July 1, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2028. Chair moved the motion and the board approved it.

A packet of policy updates driven by changes at the state level was presented for board action. Staff said the district had reviewed the proposals at the Oct. 6 regular meeting and again on Oct. 20 for first readings. The board adopted a revised directory-information policy (policy JOA) and a policy addressing enrollment/public-charge language (referred to in materials as LPEA); both were presented as administrative-rule-driven updates from the State Board of Education and were approved after motion and second.

The board also discussed proposed changes to policy DBEA, which would add an educational equity committee member to the budget committee, and reviewed revisions to graduation-requirement policy IKF tied to a referenced 2024 house code. Staff said those items had been previously reviewed and would return as appropriate.

What this means: The approvals align district policy with recent state administrative rules and set a new community member on the budget committee, enabling broader community representation on budget work. The board confirmed the items had prior readings and consistent staff recommendation before the votes.

Votes and formal actions: The consent agenda and the listed policy adoptions were moved, seconded and approved on voice votes recorded in the meeting as unanimous.
