Pleasant Hill SD 1 board approves minutes, financials, personnel actions and SIA plan; jazz band trip cleared

At its Dec. 15 meeting, the Pleasant Hill SD 1 school board approved a set of routine governance items and several staff recommendations.

The board moved and approved minutes from Nov. 17 and a set of previously unapproved minutes dating to June 2022. After a staff presentation, the board accepted the enrollment report (staff reported enrollment steady at about 955 students) and accepted the financial report presented in the packet.

Under action items, the board unanimously approved a state‑required Student Investment Account (SIA) plan as presented by staff; the SIA plan was described as the board’s formal record of the district’s SIA strategies. The board also approved recommended personnel actions for licensed employees with effective dates noted in the packet.

The board approved an out‑of‑state trip request for the high school jazz band to attend the Missouri School's Jazz Festival, with travel dates listed in the packet as Feb. 17–22. Staff said the trip will give students performance and learning opportunities with outside ensembles and educators; fundraising and logistics were noted as in progress.

The board discussed nominations for the USBA board director and the USBA legislative policy committee and recorded support for candidates to move forward in that process.
