Oakland SD 1 awaits CREP grant decision that could fund solar panels and batteries

Selection committee notifications were delayed past the original January window; the superintendent said he had been told decisions would be communicated later that week or early next week.
If the district does not receive the award, the superintendent said the district would likely meet the 1% requirement with local funds — roughly $100,000 — but that the range of options with $100,000 is much narrower than with a million‑dollar grant.
Board members asked whether CREP funds must be incorporated into construction plans; officials said applications were submitted but that, if the district does not receive the grant, the district would plan alternatives and could reallocate local funds.
The board will be notified when the selection committee issues its decision; no formal action was taken at the meeting.
