One community member said Whipper’s steady focus on "doing what’s best for kids" repeatedly brought colleagues to common ground.
Whipper accepted the tribute with gratitude and emphasized the collective effort behind board work.
"You’re giving me a lot of credit, more credit than I deserve. It was a team effort all the way through," Whipper said, adding that she misses working with the team but is confident they will continue to do good work for students.
The board recessed briefly for photographs and presentation of a commemorative clock before moving on to the next agenda items.
