Superintendent Daniel Bush introduced Kim Dowd as North Marion School District's incoming business manager, effective July 1. Bush highlighted Dowd's recent work in Silver Falls School District, including rebuilding reserve accounts and paying down short-term loans, and described those accomplishments as part of the reason for hiring her.
Kim Dowd (speaker 3) addressed the committee, saying she is service-oriented, has experience in school finance and looks forward to working with Linda Murray and the North Marion team. Dowd noted that turnaround work is a team effort and acknowledged the community impacts of difficult financial decisions.
Why it matters: The business manager position oversees district finance and will lead implementation of the budget adopted by the committee and later the board.
