A staff member explained the county provided updated maps but would not provide a digital file: “They wouldn't give us a digital copy.” Staff said they and district staff (Jessica and Michelle) reviewed the paper maps to identify discrepancies and prepared a policy revision described as very small changes intended to align district policy wording with the county labels. Staff emphasized the update does not change the composition of the board zones.
The chair asked whether the change would affect anyone currently seated on the board; staff replied it would not, and that the change reflects a labeling discrepancy (an incorrect precinct label), not a shift in zone makeup. Jessica, a staff member who assisted with the maps, confirmed a key date for candidate filings: “February 8.”
Following the discussion, a committee member moved to adopt Policy BBB on first reading; the board voted in favor and the chair said the vote was unanimous. The board asked staff to continue efforts to obtain an electronic map file from Linn County so candidates and voters can more easily determine zones.
The meeting then adjourned. The adopted first reading will appear in the next regular meeting packet for final action or subsequent reading, per board practice.
