District staff announced that Business Oregon awarded Lebanon Community SD 9 a seismic rehabilitation grant of $2,493,400 to retrofit the 7 Oak Gym.
Facilities staff said the district had previously completed an engineering assessment of the gym (approximately $25,000), paid for by another grant, and that the current award will fund the retrofit work entirely. Trustees and staff noted the retrofit also presents an opportunity to address a long‑standing roof leak.
Board members thanked staff for grant-writing efforts and noted that retrofits reduce seismic risk and protect long‑term facility investments. The announcement was part of the district’s department reports and no formal board action was recorded beyond acknowledgement and appreciation.
