Administration announced the district received additional Preschool Promise slots and will expand Cascades preschool to accommodate 20 slots, transferring 12 existing slots to Greenacres this year and planning future transfers to Lacombe to create a rural preschool option.
Staff credited principal Ryan Christner and operations staff for grant management and noted grant funding paid for required shelter infrastructure. The district said the Preschool Promise slots require ongoing reporting and compliance activities.
Separately, staff outlined a partnership with Evergreen Virtual Academy to provide an in‑district online option. Evergreen is an Oregon-based charter that offers K–12 pathways and CTE options; the district will retain students as district students while contracting instruction through Evergreen, and the partnership allows hybrid models (one class to full-time). Administrators said the partnership will help retain students who otherwise attend out‑of‑district online charters and that registration and fee logistics will be brought back for board review.
No formal contract vote was recorded for Evergreen at this meeting; staff said the agreement is signed and they will provide further implementation details.
