Separately, staff outlined safety‑improvement needs such as upgraded door locks, fire and burglar alarms, and cabling for internet services; they said the district would pursue federal COPS grant funding (presenter estimates up to about $400,000) to offset security upgrades and to support grant application work.
Committee members encouraged prioritizing safety work and coordinating other energy- or insulation-related upgrades with capital bids to maximize funding opportunities.
