Pete Dennison, chair of the Kelly Field 365 fundraising campaign, presented an update to the Banks SD 13 board on Feb. 18, 2025. He said the campaign is in a quiet phase focused on major donors (defined by the campaign as $10,000 or more), has identified approximately 100 potential large donors, and has recorded 11 pledges totaling $840,500 and $214,000 in cash to date.
Dennison listed named pledges and prospects discussed with the board, including a $250,000 pledge from Hope Homes (no cash yet), a three-year pledge of $150,000 from Mike Lyda (with an initial $50,000 check), and other large pledges the campaign is following up on. The campaign is offering naming opportunities (field, sideline, general-admission sections) tied to donor levels.
Campaign goals are split into two construction phases: phase 1 (turf field, lighting and relocated field events) with a target of summer 2025 completion if fundraising and procurement align; phase 2 (concessions and upgraded fan areas) targeted for 2026. Dennison told the board the campaign needs a general contractor, architect and engineer to meet the summer schedule and encouraged board participation in pledging.
Dennison said the campaign has four cabinet members who have donated and urged additional campaign-cabinet participation. Board members asked questions about how donation funds would be handled if the district issues contracts; staff addressed those funding-accounting questions during the action-item discussion later in the meeting.
