School board approves bond election resolution after $6.1 million matching grant announcement

"We were one of 5 districts who were awarded the awesome grant. And so that means that we have a $6,100,000 matching grant for the bond," the superintendent told the board while describing the district’s bond planning and grant status.
Board members discussed bond sizing and how to present tax impacts to voters. During the district report the superintendent and board referenced several figures from bond planning: a $36,000,000 number was mentioned as a project total, the consultants ran numbers that suggested a $12.5 million bond reference, and board members repeatedly flagged the need to communicate the true tax effect (referred to in the meeting as "55¢"). The superintendent also said the district applied for a seismic grant (amount cited in the transcript as "$2.2.4").
Before the bond vote, the board handled routine items. A motion to approve the consent agenda was made and seconded and passed unanimously.
