Brookings‑Harbor board amends agenda, approves ESD local service plan, bus purchase and calendar items

At the Feb. 18 meeting the Brookings‑Harbor School District board amended its agenda to add consideration of the South Coast ESD 2026‑27 Local Service Plan, then moved through several action items and voice votes.
A board member moved to amend the agenda to add the ESD local service plan as an action item; another board member seconded the amendment and the board approved adding the item. The board later approved the consent agenda and then took the following action votes by voice vote:
• Second reading and approval of the 2026‑27 budget calendar.
• Approval of the first read of the 2026‑27 academic calendar.
• Approval to purchase a multipurpose "type 10" vehicle (a 9‑passenger vehicle a non‑CDL driver can operate) intended to provide greater routing flexibility amid driver shortages; the purchase was discussed with reference to safety features, seat belts and crash testing and an anticipated purchase in April.
• Approval of the South Coast ESD 2026‑27 Local Service Plan.
Board members recorded aye votes on each motion. The meeting then moved into recognitions and calendar reminders before adjourning public session at about 6:20 p.m. and recessing into an executive session to review the superintendent’s performance.
