Dr. Duran previews Scott Park campus plan: grades 7 through bachelor’s, workforce training, amenities and housing

"Where you're standing at Scott Park University is gonna be a partnership with University of Toledo, Owen Community College, as well as Toledo Public School being able to provide 7 through bachelor's degree opportunities all on this campus," Dr. Duran said.
The campus update centers on expanding local career pipelines and higher-education access. Dr. Duran framed the effort as a response to employer demand for certified workers in Toledo and said the project will let students both earn credentials with industry value and carry credits toward associate and bachelor’s degrees at partner institutions.
Dr. Duran said the project will move into a second phase focused on construction and architectural design in fall 2026. "When you talk about the opportunities of education and social service, as well as construction architectural design, will be phase 2 that will start this fall coming in 2026," the speaker said, setting that timeframe as the next major milestone.
The plan includes program expansions and campus amenities: Dr. Duran said an additional program will be added under a business academy to provide advanced certification and college credit, and the site will include daycare and a recreational facility to support students and families. "You're gonna have an additional third program brought here under the business academy, truly providing advanced opportunity for kids to progress through certification as well as college credit," Dr. Duran said.
Dr. Duran also described residential development on site, calling it a gated community intended to let people live near where they are educated and employed. The speaker emphasized local retention: "I want kids to be educated here. I want them to be able to work here, but more importantly live here," Dr. Duran said, urging community members to "stay tuned" for the coming phase.
The announcement named partners and program goals but did not specify funding sources, enrollment targets, parcel ownership or approvals required from external agencies.
