Pickerington Local approves consent agenda, certificate of nutrition compliance and accepts 120 backpacks donation

The Pickerington Local School District board on Oct. 13 approved the consent agenda covering administrative and certified personnel actions, retirements, substitute licensure items, supplemental contracts and volunteer coaches and advisors.
Superintendent Dr. Smialek summarized personnel items including several retirements and recommended hires; staff noted three retirements among certified/licensed personnel and multiple support-staff changes. The board approved the consent agenda by roll call.
The board also approved the annual state-required certificate of nutritional standards. A district staff member, Rob, described the certificate as an annual compliance exercise: "This is an annual exercise we have to do for the state ... this certificate just says we are compliant with our nutritional standards," he said.
Separately, the board accepted a donation of 120 backpacks for Diley and Central schools and recognized a $5,000 grant from the Power Foundation to fund STEAM and SEL supplies for Sycamore Creek Elementary.
Votes on consent items and the donation were recorded by roll call with approval and no recorded opposition at the meeting. The board will celebrate retirements and recognize new staff at a future date.
