Treasurer: district moving toward release from state oversight, recovery plan submitted

Treasurer Mr. Adams told the board on Sept. 18 that the district's financial recovery plan has been provided to the state auditor as part of oversight review and that the district is preparing documents to support release from fiscal oversight.
"They obviously were very happy that our taxpayers passed our renewals," Adams said, and added the oversight department is providing the auditor with the recovery plan. He said the district has done substantial procedural work over the past two years to put grant accounting and reporting in order.
Adams told trustees the district is one of the few that did not move from fiscal watch into emergency status and said the community should be proud of that outcome. He cautioned that release is not yet final and that the auditor must determine the district's release status.
Board members asked clarifying questions and Adams said staff will prepare the required release documents if the auditor approves the plan. The item drew brief discussion but no dissent; the board proceeded to vote on other agenda items.
